Mr Matsushita
We loved the location, suburb Tokyo but not far away, beautiful campus. Moreover, we were impressed with Malvern values, headmaster, teachers and staff. Headmaster is hands on and presented to everyone himself about the school, he greets pupils in morning at the entrance.
We particularly liked Malvern Values such as entrepreneurship and risk taking as well as, noting that the world and technology is changing so schools and educators need to understand and change accordingly, for example, dealing with ChatGPT, etc.
Historically, Malvern has put strong emphasis in science and technology.
Wonderful is an understatement, pupils have been empowered and proactive, same time respecting Japanese language and culture, which we think is unique for an international school.
Pupils’ learning experience is tailored by the teachers so that many are interactive and/or creative, which stimulates pupils’ intellectual curiosity. Research and presentations opportunities give pupils a great experience to explore a topic, often of their choice, and to present their finding to a wider audience, which we think is wonderful
There have been many unique activities thought out and arranged by the teachers such as field trips to staying overnight at the school. Pupils were excited about staying at the school and planned out everything themselves and had a blast.
The location/environment we think is unique, it is in a rural area with a large campus.
MCT respects the Japanese culture and not only teach Japanese language but also the culture and hosts events on Japanese events/holidays.
House system is unique, which enables pupils to become close to pupils older and younger. We have found that our son knows many older pupils, who take good care of him
MCT welcomes diverse cultures by addressing them during class, we have seen our son research on various cultures throughout the year. As a class representative, I had the opportunities to discuss with other class representatives and school leaders such as Mr. Spencer and Mr. Bentley, the core of MCT philosophy is to welcome diverse cultures and thoughts.

MYP Parent
Mr Iwai
Malvern College Tokyo has established a well-structured and effective communication system that keeps parents closely connected to school life. This is primarily achieved through three key channels: school events, the Toddle app, and the weekly newsletter.
Whenever we have questions for subject teachers, we are able to contact them directly through Toddle or email, which provides a great sense of reassurance and accessibility.
Personally, I believe that in school–parent communication, it is far better to have what might be considered overcommunication rather than too little—and I truly feel that MCT succeeds in maintaining this ideal balance.
During the Pupil–Parent–Teacher Conferences held each term, all subject teachers provide detailed and specific feedback on my son’s classroom performance, highlighting both his achievements and areas for growth. These conversations have been a great source of motivation for him.
By continuing these discussions at home, we are able to support his learning more meaningfully and stay engaged in his progress. Another notable strength of the school is the wide variety of tasks across different subjects—not only in Visual or Performing Arts—that foster and celebrate creativity. This well-rounded approach has helped nurture his confidence and imagination across the curriculum.
Previously, my son attended a bilingual class at a Japanese Ichijo elementary school. Transitioning to Malvern College Tokyo meant entering a completely new environment with entirely new peers, which understandably placed considerable pressure on him at first. However, we have also seen remarkable personal growth as he has learned to navigate and adapt to these new challenges.
The teachers have been quick to provide support whenever needed, which has been immensely reassuring. Another distinctive feature we value is the House system—something not commonly found in Japanese schools—which encourages interaction across different year groups. We look forward to seeing him continue to gain meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom through such opportunities.

II enjoy going to Malvern College Hong Kong. The reason is that I find the school’s method of teaching fun and enjoyable, as well as actively engaging

I enjoy the group projects which are self-conducted. We learn how to communicate with others and you tend to be more curious and willing to learn.
