Pre-Prep Programme

Empowering Young Minds: Nurturing Spirits and Fostering Global Attitudes

Malvern College Tokyo’s Pre-Prep Programme is more than an early years learning environment — it is a vibrant, joyful community that develops the whole child: academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and ethically. Families seeking high-quality early childhood education in international schools in Tokyo will find a nurturing, structured, and globally minded foundation at MCT.

Our Pre-Prep curriculum embraces the philosophy of the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) and the values of a British-style international school, while celebrating each child’s individuality. Parents are invited to complete a “Getting to Know You” form upon enrolment, enabling us to understand your child’s unique character, interests and aspirations. This partnership allows us to tailor meaningful learning experiences within a caring, multicultural environment where every child is supported to grow with confidence and curiosity.

Our teachers act as facilitators, observing and guiding play to ensure a balance between child-led exploration and structured learning. Ample outdoor play and movement activities are incorporated to support physical development and well-being.

The Importance of Play

Children learn best through play. Play allows them to develop their imagination, dexterity and a range of physical, cognitive and emotional skills. Play is essential for healthy brain development and allows children to engage with and make sense of the world around them. Through interactions with others, children also learn important social and communication skills, building the foundations for lifelong learning and collaboration.
